RASMOL

We provide RasMol scripts to visualize output from several tools. The RasMol icon links to these script. Providing you have the RasMol program installed, and your browser correctly configured, clicking on this icon will display a rendered image of the structure in 3D in RasMol. In addition to installing the normal RasMol package you will need a script to intepret our RasMol files.

Firefox

Firefox 3.x

Configuring Firefox 3.x for RasMol (UNIX / LINUX):

  1. download and install RasMol
  2. download the RasmolFox.sh script
  3. edit the script to point to the correct location of the rasmol binary on your machine
  4. make the script executable with chmod u+x RasmolFox.sh
  5. when requested to specify application, choose RasmolFox.sh

Firefox 2.x

Configuring Firefox 2.x for RasMol (UNIX / LINUX):

  1. download and install RasMol
  2. download the RasmolFox.sh script
  3. edit the script to point to the correct location of the rasmol binary on your machine
  4. make the script executable with chmod u+x RasmolFox.sh
  5. download and install MIME Edit extension
  6. open Firefox and go to Tools->MIME Edit...
  7. click on the Edit tab and choose New Type
  8. Insert the following information:
    1. MIME Type: application/x-rasmol
    2. Description: Rasmol script
    3. Extension:
    4. When a file of this type is encountered: Open it with
    5. and select the location of the RasmolFox.sh script as handler
